HBSUK wins InterSystems Impact Award
Growth Director Shelley Garlington accepted the prestigious award on behalf of HBSUK earlier this month

We’re thrilled to announce that HBSUK has received a 2025 InterSystems Impact Award, recognising the transformational impact of our digital outpatient platform across UK healthcare. The award was presented at the InterSystems READY 2025 Summit in Orlando, Florida, and selected by an independent panel of judges from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Our Growth Director, Shelley Garlington, was honoured to collect the award on behalf of the HBSUK team, in recognition of our mission to make high-quality, accessible care a reality for all patients.
A Global Award with a Local Impact
The InterSystems Impact Awards celebrate real-world, data-driven innovation across sectors including healthcare, finance and public services. This year’s winners included national health systems, government bodies, and leading institutions such as Stanford Health and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
To be recognised on a global stage alongside these organisations is a significant achievement for HBSUK and for the NHS partners we support every day.
How Our Platform is Transforming Care
HBSUK’s digital outpatient platform enables NHS and private providers to:
- Rapidly assess and prioritise patients using structured, asynchronous consultations
- Direct patients to the right care first time, including advice, diagnostics or treatment
- Reduce waiting lists, improve productivity, and lower service delivery costs
- Support multiple specialties including orthopaedics, dermatology, gastroenterology, and cardiology
Built on InterSystems IRIS for Health, the platform integrates seamlessly with NHS systems, offers robust clinical governance, and supports innovative models such as Patient-Initiated Follow-Ups, such as our work in North Cumbria.
Some NHS patients have received outcomes within just three days, instead of waiting up to a year; this is a clear example of how digital tools can improve experience, outcomes, and value.
A Shared Success
This award recognises the dedication and expertise of our entire team, and the close collaboration we enjoy with NHS Trusts and clinical partners.
As the NHS continues to face capacity and workforce challenges, digital innovation will be essential. We’re proud to be part of the solution, working alongside the system to deliver smarter, safer, more accessible care.
We look forward to building on this recognition and continuing to support our partners in tackling waiting lists and transforming outpatient care.
